Basinger, Randy
D.V.M.
Dr. Basinger, Diplomate American College of Veterinary Surgeons, received his D.V.M. from the Ohio State University. After internship, he completed his surgery residency and coursework for a Masters in Physiology degree at the University of Georgia. Board-certified in veterinary surgery in 1988, Dr. Basinger founded this veterinary specialty practice. He lectures frequently at the local, state, and international levels, has published four book chapters and 15 scientific articles, has completed successful research projects in the university and practice setting, and has served as president of his veterinary class and the local and state veterinary organizations. Dr. Basinger has been honored by the ACVS for the best research publication by a resident and as the 2005 South Carolina Veterinarian of the Year. Dr. Basinger has recently become certified in Stem Cell Therapy for the treatment of pain or disability from musculoskeletal disease such as osteoarthritis, tendon or ligament injury, autoimmune joint disease, and non-healing fractures. After Hours: Randy and his wife, Louise, a veterinarian also, have a son, Will, who is a pre-vet student at Clemson and a daughter, Carly, in high school. A devoted tennis player, Randy also enjoys running and water sports with his family. Randy and his family provide a home to two dogs, three cats, two birds, a reef aquarium, a rat, two rabbits, and five laying hens.
